President Donald J. Trump was just banned by Twitter, but why?
According to the company’s blog, their reason for the permanent ban was “…due to the risk of further incitement of violence.“
I call bullshit.
There are PLENTY of other accounts on the [platform that incite violence – even some death threats. They’ve banned him for not being a liberal.
Look, I’m not a Trump supporter – I think he’s an ass, and certainly was not presidential. But if you were to judge someone based on character, then most of our past presidents would not have been able to serve in the office. Lest we forget that the early ones were slave owners?
It may be a different time and all, but let’s call a spade a spade – if Trump was a liberal, this ban wouldn’t have even happened. Media outlets wouldn’t give this story the time of day, except to call Jack Dorsey’s move as a violation of the First Amendment.
To be fair, Twitter is (from what I know) well within its right to ban or remove whomever they want to remove. There’s some sticky legal stuff to be worked out, but for the most part, they didn’t do anything wrong – just bad.
What I do see is this sort of act not being the end. I see plenty of other conservatives that’ll be lined up in the sights of the political rifles that many liberal social media platforms have. If you think Trump is the only one that’ll face this gauntlet, then think again. Before it’s over, I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets banned from other places like Facebook, Instagram, or somewhere else completely.
This story isn’t over. Pay attention, and let’s follow this trend. See who gets the ax, next.
